17/52 2014

Yet another crazy week. I move tomorrow, and hopefully things will start to calm down a little bit while I get settled and unpack. I'm sure that next week's set will include some sneak peeks to what my new apartment looks like!

Wednesday 23 April // day one hundred thirteen :: a painting I did in kindergarten. except the pink and purple cloud was part of the painting from the boy next to me. I still don't understand how that ended up on my portion of the paper.

Thursday 24 April // day one hundred fourteen :: I finally got my updated certification card. just please don't make me use this knowledge.

Friday 25 April // day one hundred fifteen :: NatureBox time! read about the contents here.

Saturday 26 April // day one hundred sixteen :: let's keep it real. this is what my dining room table looks like most of the time, except usually there's a camera sitting there too.

Sunday 27 April // day one hundred seventeen :: my mom went on a trip to the east coast, and she brought me this plus some Biscoff cookies from the plane. ha!

Monday 28 April // day one hundred eighteen :: café latte Greek yogurt (Dannon Oikos) with chocolate frosted mini wheats. odd. very odd.

Tuesday 29 April // day one hundred nineteen :: packing means lots of stacks of random things and boxes everywhere. I can't wait to be done.

xoxo.

April 2014 NatureBox

NatureBox got a facelift with some new packaging! They're in the middle of switching over, so some things are still in old packaging, so as to not waste all of the old stuff. They also have this great new feature called the Snack Pantry, where you can queue up the snacks that you want for your next boxes, which I found super helpful!

{I had some problems with preset white balance, so coloring might be a little off in some of these pictures.}

Mismatched packaging and a note about the facelift and new feature from NatureBox.

Toasted Sesame Stix :: random extra snack, which I'm probably going to give to someone, because I don't really care for sesame; it's too salty for me.

Golden Apple Tea Biscuits :: These were definitely my favorite this month! Tiny little cookies with a buttery shortbread taste and chunks of apple - yum!

Italian Bistro Pretzels :: The last time I received pretzels from NatureBox, I didn't really like them, but I really liked these! They are dusted with a garlic-y Parmesan mix, and they have the perfect kick. Some of them weren't coated, which was a good break, because they did get pretty hot after having a few.

Honey Crunch Crisps :: Had I realized that these were sesame, I probably wouldn't have gotten them. Or maybe I got them because I thought that the sweet would outweigh the salty. It doesn't. These are okay, but I wouldn't get them again.

Açaí Berry Crunch :: I love granola. This was kind of like a coconut macaroon granola, with a little bit of an almost blueberry taste. There are also a few cranberry pieces in here, but not a lot.

Sunshine Chips :: I got these for Ashleigh! These include sweet potato, squash, taro, carrot, and green bean. These are definitely weird. I don't even really know how to describe them. They all kind of taste the same to me, like frozen vegetables, except they're crunchy.

all I can say is: marathon week. this rest of April is going to be crazy.

Wednesday 16 April // day one hundred six :: a well-rounded breakfast.

Thursday 17 April // day one hundred seven :: another fresh dusting of snow.

 Friday 18 April // day one hundred eight :: I love this Calavera tote from World Market, but I don't use it very much!

Saturday 19 April // day one hundred nine :: baking brownies for Easter {I used this recipe}

Sunday 20 April // day one hundred ten :: my twelve (?) year old cousin hid the eggs around my grandparents' house. I think he did a pretty good job! this one is my favorite because it made me laugh!

Monday 21 April // day one hundred eleven :: Easter leftovers for dinner. {Martha Stewart's mac and cheese, ham, and some sort of cheesy mashed potatoes with onions}

Tuesday 22 April // day one hundred twelve :: a scene from the lobby. those vintage Rubbermaid kar-rug coasters are so adorable. and I love this little skull guy. his head moves back and forth when you shake him, and it makes the most awful noise, though.

you know you're a preschool teacher when...

{I should preface this by saying that I'm not an actual preschool teacher who works with preschoolers five days a week for nine months a year. I currently teach four classes a week for preschoolers, plus I am a summer day camp counselor for four and five year olds. I also teach Sunday school to children ages three through fifth grade, and I have been working with this age group for about seven years now.}

you know you're a preschool teacher when...

...you have someone else's child's artwork hanging on your fridge.

...you have been surrounded by six people playing with/braiding your hair for no reason.

...there are days that you say you are never going to have kids, but then the next day you change your mind because they are just so adorable.

...even though you don't feel old enough to be a parent, there are children who you have referred to as your kids.

...you have had many silent laughter moments over the hilarious things that come out of their mouths.

...you never get tired of hearing "Miss Teresa" in their adorable raspy little voices.

...you know about toys and movies that most people your age wouldn't know about, and you desperately want to watch Frozen because everyone is always talking about it.

...you get random parts of random Greg & Steve songs stuck in your head for no reason.

...you know all of the words to a certain few Greg & Steve songs. {Bop 'Till You Drop, Goin' on a Bear Hunt, and Silly Willies are my personal favorites.}

...being hugged around the knees makes your day.

...an accomplishment for them is an accomplishment for you, whether it's making it through class without crying and missing mom, or doing their first flip on the bars.

...children's books are your favorite books, and you love browsing the children's section at any bookstore.

Do you have any funny stories about kids? You know I'd love to hear them... Kids say the greatest things.

clouds

One of my favorite things to photograph (and to look at) is bright blue skies with puffy white clouds. Here are some photos from Tuesday!

thank you notes

today I'm joining Kiki and Jess for The Circle! I've linked up a few other times, but since I've been doing photo posts every Wednesday, I haven't been. so I'm linking up a day late, but that's okay. (:

this month's theme is thank you notes - serious, funny, sarcastic... let's see what I've got.

{these notecards are from Target about a year and a half ago - I love the greenroom line}

thank you Mother Nature for proving that the calendar doesn't determine the weather.

thank you three littles for brightening my morning yesterday. it is always so great to get to spend some time with great kids like you!

thank you KinderCubs classes for the short workouts a few times a week. I can definitely say that my v-sit has improved!

thank you Social Print Studio for making me want to spend all of my money on photographs and photo things like magnets and books. {I ordered a set of magnets last night, and I want to put together a photo book from my Minneapolis trip!}

thank you Pinterest for making summer camp planning much easier.

thank you moving for making me do some necessary purging. and also for helping me come across some things that bring back sweet memories.

thank you hairstylist not only for getting rid of my split ends and making my hair seem more manageable, but also for the nice chat.

thank you working in the dining room for making me want to constantly snack on things.

xoxo.

In Its Time

15/52 2014

Well, the weather was crazy again this week. It started nice and warm, and it got up to sixty at one point, but now there's an inch or so of snow on the ground again...

We had a full house at the motel all weekend, and we had a fun visitor among them. We've got a lot going on there, and it won't slow down again until November.

Then at my other job, aside from teaching four classes a week, my supervisor and I are starting to get ready for camp this summer. It feels like so far away, but it's coming up really close.

Wednesday 9 April // day ninety-nine :: I had grand plans for having today's picture be this great picture of the dinner I made, but it didn't turn out as great as I wanted. I made mac and cheese, but I didn't let the cheese melt in the sauce for long enough. I'll try again soon. It still tasted good though!

Thursday 10 April // day one hundred :: giant glass ornament. random picture from the living room. I have no idea why that monkey is on top of the door frame.

Friday 11 April // day one hundred one :: throwback picture from August 1999. I was six and Amy was twelve.

Saturday 12 April // day one hundred two :: starting a grocery list. I forgot the butter last week when I had a coupon...

Sunday 13 April // day one hundred three :: Canadian coins and an empty spice bottle on the butcher block.

Monday 14 April // day one hundred four :: April snow. I woke up to hearing my dad plowing the driveway.

Tuesday 15 April // day one hundred five :: I had a few eggs that I wanted to do something with, so I hard boiled them! I loved watching all of the bubbles.
